Senegal actually looked quite well in both of their matches so far with offensive quality in their game plan. However, bit more of defensive concentration was needed in their second round game against Japan as they paid the price for it and the match ended up as a 2:2 draw.
Now, the side still needs to get something out of this match against Colombians and the draw would be enough for their progress to the next stage no matter what. They looked better than the Japenese in previous round and even had the lead twice.
Mane brought them into the lead in eleventh minute, while Inui leveled up in 34th. Wague formed 2:1 result in 71st minute and it looked like Senegal is heading towards a victory simply since they were better in the between phases. However, Honda scored equalizer in 78th minute leaving no time with desire to risk much more in last fifteen minutes.
Mane, Niang and Sarr should be attacking trio of the Senegalese team. Their formation should be similar to 4-3-3. Their manager could opt for the same lineup that started against Japan.
Colombians were victimes of their own start into the match in the first round of Japan when their player got red carded, penalty got awarded for Japan and defeat looked quite invetiable. They gave everything they could inside the first halftime and managed to level up the result, but it was all.
They stood without energy in the second part and couldn't compete against Asians finally suffering defeat. However, many things were different in the second round when they faced up against Poland and managed to bounce back to positive ways and celebrate 3:0 victory.
Their performance in attack looked flawless at moments as they took the lead via Mina in 40th minute. As soon as the Polish team tried to do something more, Colombians showed great capacity to exploit such behavior. Finally, thanks to goals from Falcao and Cuadrado they sealed so much neded victory.
After a sloppy start and a defeat to Japan they improved more than well and are now surely looking like a side which has a lot more to show at this World Cup. In order to progress the group stage, they need a victory and nothing less than a victory now.
Colombia is set to continue with Falcao upfront as lone striker. Cuadrado, Quintero and Rodriguez should be offensive midfielders in 4-2-3-1 formation.
Carlos Sanchez is back in contention after missing the game due suspension – but might not be used. Midfielder Abel Aguilar is injured for this one. No much reasons to change the lineup after excellent performance against Poland.
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Senegal's last 3 games (FIFA World Cup).
Senegal are leading the table together with Japan, but are facing much stronger opponent here. Colombians are in a must win situation while Senegal settles with a draw as well. Knowing how strong offensive part of the team South Americans have, it's difficult to imagine this game being a defensive or low scoring one.
All value is with goals and it's pretty simple choice knowing Senegalese gaps in defensive part of the game.
